Sunday, 6/03/18: Spent the day at anchor off Cumberland Island. Too hot to go for a hike. For example, 89 feel like 101. Day of rest….reading….I painted……
Monday, 6/04/18: Blew up a bit last night so the anchor was well dug in. Larry had to work hard. Still insists on pulling it up by hand, not using the windlass. Nice morning before the heat…Anchor up 7:50. Low tide so we had to go the long way to get to ICW. Leaving from MM 711. The green heads attacked…low tide and marsh.Coast Guard inflatable came by. I was driving, so I waved….Next thing, they turn around and come by and they were all waving. God, they look so young-I am sure it was a training session-too many on board. Today we ended up at Brunswick Landing Marina (MM680ish). We have to go about 5 miles off the ICW. Free beer-Larry went to clubhouse before we went to lunch. He was thirsty…Then we walked to lunch in town-took the long way, in 100 degree weather. Saw some lovely old live oaks and a few old houses that were interesting. Lunch at Fox’s-limited places open. Then went back to happy hour at the clubhouse, free wine this time-out of beer. Afterwards, sent Larry to do laundry- the place was air conditioned…
Tuesday, 6/05/18: Up early to get in our marina morning routine: anything that has to do with shore power (electricity) vacuum, make rice for dinner, blow dry my hair…..Left by 8:45. Long day, lots of green head flies….anchor down at 6:45, 10 hrs, at No Name Creek or Birthday Creek-have seen both listed (MM 611.4).
Wednesday, 6/06/18: Easy morning enjoying coffee on the back porch, marsh, sky and birds….anchor up at 9:20. Easy ride to Delegal Creek Marina (MM 601). This included going thru Hell Gate, which gets very shallow and is feared by many. Once in the marina, borrowed a golf cart for the lovely ride to Publix and to the Tavern for lunch. Awesome praline bread pudding. Cute to see a parking area designated for golf carts at Publix. Larry cleaned upper decks of the boat in the heat….
Thursday, 6/07/18: got up early to cook dinner on my new Instant Pot. Finally, got to see the wild hogs on the island across from the marina. Later, Larry saw skates jumping and I saw jellyfishes….we saw something big swimming, but couldn’t identify it. Today we were waked badly by several boats. Either ignorance or lack of caring for fellow boaters. I hope it’s ignorance. Anchor down in Burkemeyers Beach, SC (MM539).
Friday, 6/08/18: Anchor up 10:25. Only had to go two miles to Lady’s Island Marina in Beaufort (MM 537). Tied up by 11:10. Thunder, little rain, then went for a walk. Ate Mexican and were stuffed! Really good sangria.
Saturday, 6/09/18: walked to antique mall. Afterwards, went to Bread Co. for breakfast while Larry went to hardware store. Walked back, right in time for the rain, thunder, wind to start. Later borrowed the courtesy car for local touring and brought back barbecue for dinner. Not too good. Ended the day by sitting on Panda Bear, listening to live music at the Fillin Station.
